2019 Reading Challenges // @ RAPT
With a new year comes new challenges!
In past years I’ve attempted a few challenges, but haven’t completed many of them as I would get completely caught up in something else. Well, 2018 was no different and for that reason, I will be re-doing the challenges I started in 2018.
2019 Discussion Challenge
I’ve attempted the Discussion Challenge a few times, hosted by Feed Your Fiction Addiction and It Starts at Midnight and simply failed to make it all the way through a whole year. Of course I’ve decided to do it again for 2019 and – fingers crossed – I plan to accomplish at least one (1) discussion post per month. I’ve challenged myself to use a set of prompts to help me complete my goal.
This year my goal is to accomplish level: 11 to 20 discussions: Creative Conversationalist. More specific, my goal is 12 discussions – one per month in addition to my interviews, reviews, and other posts.
You can find out all of the details here at the main link page on Feed Your Fiction Addiction.

2019 NetGalley/Edelweiss Reading Challenge
Last year I attempted to complete the 2018 Blogger Shame Challenge and like my other challenges didn’t finish. I wanted to revisit the challenge for this year, however, every link I have tried to get to the 2019 challenge is broken, so it may not be happening for 2019. I will keep checking back.
Instead, I have found a similar challenge that is new to me, but not new – NetGalley and Edelweiss Reading Challenge. With this
- Watch Me Disappear by Janelle Brown (NG) – READ, need review
- Love and Gravity by Samantha Soto (NG) – READ, need review
- The Witch House of Persimmon Point by Suzanne Palmieri (NG)
- The Body Reader by Anne Frazier (NG) – READ, need review

Instagram 2019 Reading Challenge
This challenge is one I think any #bookstgram lover can do – read one book per month and then post an image of that book tagging @readingchallenge2019!
Agatha Christie Reading Challenge – Personal
For 2018 I worked on an open reading challenge to read all the books by one specific author. This challenge format has no schedule so I will be continuing 2019 reading works by Agatha Christie, just as a personal challenge. I am reading within set characters and currently reading books featuring Hercule Poirot. The Poirot collection features 43 books and novellas and I will be reading them in the order suggested via the Agatha Christie website.
- The Mysterious Affair at Styles (1920) – DONE, Read: 6/20/2018
- Murder on the Links (1923) – Currently reading
- TBD
I don’t sign up for a lot of challenges, but I like to see what’s out there. It makes me mindful of my habits. Like a few years ago I saw the Reading Around the World challenge and I realized I mostly read US and British authors. So I’ve been trying to expand my reading horizon since seeing that challenge. I have signed up for the Discussion Challenge and I hope to do at least 1 discussion type post. My first is a deeper look at Ethan Frome.

Hi, Donna! Thanks for your comment. I’m checking out your discussion post. Thanks for mentioning the Reading Around the World challenge. Like you, I find that I tend to stay with US or British writers and should expand my reading horizon with authors located around the world.
Sometimes starting a challenge is a whole lot easier than finishing. 🙂 But that’s okay. Even if you only manage to post a few more discussions than you would have otherwise, it’s a win! Glad you’re joining us again!
