Gripping romantic suspense from USA TODAY bestselling author Colleen Coble.

A lie changed her world.

Police Chief Jane Hardy is still reeling from the scandal that rocked her small-town department just as she took over for her retired father—the man who wrecked her life with one little lie. Now she’s finally been reunited with her presumed-dead fifteen-year-old son, Will, and his father, documentarian Reid Bechtol.

A crisis looms.

When a murder aboard the oil platform Zeus exposes an environmental terrorist’s plot to flood Mobile Bay with crude oil, Jane and Reid must put their feelings for each other behind them and work together to prevent the rig from being sabotaged.

A killer targets her son.

Then the terrorist puts her son Will’s life on the line. Protecting him could be the common ground they need . . . but then ghosts from the past threaten to ruin Jane and Reid for good. She’s got plenty of reasons to run. But what if she stays?

Thank you to Author Colleen Coble for joining us today to share some great behind the scenes in our latest #RAPTInterview. Enjoy!

When was the moment that you knew writing would become part of your life?

I wrote my first story in grade school about a horse that had twin colts. The teacher praised it, and I thought, wow, maybe I could have a book in the library someday. The dream of writing was planted then.

Congratulations on your span of writing and the many accolades received for your work. With your deep history in writing, how do you keep each novel unique and fresh?

I’m always on the lookout for something that interests me and gets my creative juices going. I try to mix up the setting some, and setting is very important to me. It helps make sure each story is unique.

What was your most satisfying moment while writing Two Reasons To Run?

When I figured out the villain! I’m a seat-of-the-pants writer, and I always lay down rabbit trails to see where they lead. I like to be surprised right along with my readers!

Did you find Two Reasons To Run stayed along your chosen path or developed into a completely different book once completed?

Every book is a journey for me. I don’t like outlining. If I know what’s going to happen, why write the book?!

How did you celebrate after finishing this novel?

Chocolate, of course! Is there any other way to celebrate?

Of your supporting characters within Two Reasons To Run, which character should readers keep an eye out for?

Olivia Davis has a story arc through all three books. I love her. She’s based on a real cop in the Gulf Shores area who took in troubled teens for years and turned their lives around. He was inspiring to talk to, and I knew I had to have a character like that.

Can you tell us which of your books (or series) is your favorite?

That’s like asking my favorite kid. LOL I couldn’t pick a favorite.

If you could only recommend one of your books to readers, which one would it be and why?

Readers are enamoured with my Rock Harbor series, so I usually suggest a new reader starts with Without a Trace

If you only had one sentence to capture a new reader for your books, what would it be?

It was days like this when the sun bounced off Lake Superior with an eye-squinting brilliance that Bree Nicholls forgot all her qualms about living where the Snow King ruled nine months of the year. (from Without a Trace)

What author has inspired you the most in your writing?

Will you gasp if I say Stephen King? I learned how to write deep POV from reading his novels. He can grab a reader like no other writer.

Of course, we have to know, what is in-store next – books, events, etc.?

Three Missing Days is the finale to the Pelican Harbor series. It will be out next summer, and I think readers will enjoy seeing all the intertwining threads wrap up!
